The bag takes its name from The Main Sail, the essential sail of any sailboat.

This bag is characterized by 6 distinctive ropes, known as reef point, that are used to secure the part of the sail which allows for navigation even in the strongest of winds.

The Main Sail is made entirely by hand using sturdy canvas, known as Olona, according to the ancient techniques of sailors on board.

Dyed with indigo, and black tea, The Main Sail is then coated with a mix of protective resins and waxes which allow this bag to lead an unruly life.

The paint is applied over a stitched bag and left to dry in the sun for several days.

These methods improve the brightness and flexibility of the bag, giving a pleasant feeling to the touch which is very similar to soft leather.

Like all bags in this series The Main Sail has red buds for good luck, made from rose knots

The clear hemp rope is crafted by artisans from Naples.

The logo and any customizations are hand drawn with faded blue ink.

The measurements of The Main Sail are: width 50cm height 43 cm
